We wish to be respectful to the First Nation community when naming this pattern and thus named it 'Polar Pals'. Yupik People of Alaska and Siberia do not consider themselves to be Inuit and prefer to be known as the Yup’ik, Yupiit or Eskimo, whereas in Canada and Greenland, the term “Eskimo” is considered derogatory and they wish to be referred to as, Inuit of Canada, and the Kalaallit of Greenland. Source 1, 2, 3 Thank you to the First Nation members of our community who have shared this important information with us.
